PowerPoint Presentation Requirement
(40 points
including presentation)
Your mission is to create and deliver a
PowerPoint presentation. Following are the requirements in 4
categories:
Category I: Content...
(10 points)
The content should be information about
you in the following scenario:
You are getting an interview for a teaching postion and the interview team has asked you to
deliver a 10-minute presentation that introduces you to the interview team. The type of the information that
you present is your decision. DO NOT READ the PowerPoint presentation. Use it to
reinforce your verbal delivery by providing a visual outline or
summary.
Suggestions for the type of information you should
include:
Name
Academic Background
Work Experience
Professional Experience
Skills
Activities
Awards/Honors
Personal/Family Information
Hobbies/Interests
Goals
What makes you different?
Category II:
Technical...(10 points)
Your presentation should have a minimum of 10 slides.
You should incorporate graphics.
You should incorporate slide transitions.
You should incorporate some kind of animation.
You should have music at the beginning and/or end.
You should have at least one link to the Internet.
Category III:
Design...(10 points)
Keep your presentation simple with a limited amount of text on each frame.
Your slide should give multimedia support to what you have to say.
You should elaborate on and explain the information on the slide, not just repeat what is on the slide.
Your text which must be readable by the audience (avoid "light" colors).
Graphics should be appropriate for the slide.
Each slide should serve as an outline of what you have to say, not as a text slide for you to read!
Category IV: Delivery...(10 points)
Make eye contact with the audience.
Do NOT read the slides to the audience.
Demonstrate enthusiasm during your presentation.
Use appropriate body movement, posture, and body language.
Test your presentation. You do not want to be surprised by technical problems.
